Chettinad Pepper Chicken

The word chettinad comes from a region in southern Tamil Nadu that is known for its culinary delicacies. Here's one of my favorite side dishes you could prepare in minutes. The men at home like it coz it goes pretty well with beer too in which case you could cut the chicken a little larger than shown in the picture. The curry leaves & pepper are ingredients that pep up the dish & are must haves to make this a recipe most wanted!

Ingredients:
1lb Boneless Chicken cut to bite size pieces
6 cloves chopped garlic
1 inch ginger chopped
1 bunch Curry leaves
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
2 large onions sliced thin
1 large Tomato chopped
3 tblsp oil
2 tbsp Ground black pepper

Spices (powdered)
½ tsp Turmeric
1 tsp Garam masala
1 tsp Jeera powder (optional)
3 tsp Dhaniya powder (optional)
1 tsp Chilli powder

Method:
Heat oil in a pan, add curry leaves fry for a few seconds,
Add the garlic, onion & ginger garlic paste, fry till onions turn transparent or slightly golden brown
Add chicken, salt, spices (turmeric, garam masala, chilli, dhaniya & jeera) according to taste.
Once the chicken turns a little brown, add the tomatoes and allow to cook till the oil saperates. Now add the ground pepper cook for a few mintues.
Garnish with lime juice & coriander leaves!

Serve: With rice or chappatis.
Cuisine: South Indian, Chettinad
